Cocoa Mulch

Cocoa mulch, made from cocoa beans, has two ingredients in it that are lethal to dogs, caffiene and theobromine. It smells like chocolate and can attract dogs tempted to eat it. Dogs metabolize theobromine much slower than us humans and for this reason, it can be toxic to dogs.

We are not sure how much mulch the dog would have to ingest for this to cause a problem, but we thought we would put this out there for all our furry friends. There are so many other safer mulch options, why take a chance?

Other foods (some not so obvious) dogs should avoid: Chocolate, Coffee, Caffiene, Avocados, Grapes and Raisons, Onions, Garlic, Chives, Milk, Salt, Xylitol, Raw Eggs, Raw Meat or Bones, Yeast Dough, Macadamia Nuts and Alcohol.
